When Chandler Jay was 5 years of age, his parents could see he had a talent for singing and playing the piano, so they enrolled him into vocal and piano lessons. It wasn’t long before Chandler’s piano teacher saw something in Chandler. Now he is trained up to his Grade 5 in Piano Performance and Grade 3 in Theory of Music. And, after years of vocal lessons Chandler is now an accomplished singer who has developed his own unique sound.
When Chandler was 10 years of age he wanted to sing and perform to audiences, so he started busking every weekend in and around Brisbane at Farmers Markets. This would be where Chandler would continue to practice his craft. While music has been such a huge part of his life, Chandler Jay is yet to share his musical talents with the wider world.
In 2019, Chandler completed a Certificate II in Music Industry at TAFE whilst doing his Year 10 schooling. Like many musicians, Chandler also plays guitar, but piano has always been the instrument he connected to on a deeper level.
Chandler Jay is an Emerging Singer-Songwriter from Brisbane. Chandler has released two original singles, ‘I’m Original’, which was awarded Highly Commended in the Schools Section of the 2018 Queensland Music Awards and ‘My Own Personal Pain’ and he is about to release his third single, 'Party In The House' on 30 March 2020.
Chandler draws his musical inspiration and confidence from his idols such as Elton John, Guy Sebastian, Charlie Puth, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Niall Horan and Billy Joel. Chandler Jay is often compared to Tim Freedman from The Whitlam’s with his unique vocal tones and piano skills.
In 2020, Chandler will be continuing his music studies full time, being accepted into a Certificate IV in Music Industry (Performance) at the Jazz Music Institute while performing regularly at Restaurants, Bars, Farmers Markets, Shopping Centres and Open Mic Nights.
This Singer-Songwriter is certainly a young artist to watch.
